Celani Sikhakhane brings you KwaZulu-Natal’s latest news.

Pietermaritzburg: The leaders of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party at the KZN Legislature are divided over the way they treated NFP MEC Mbali Shinga when they tabled a vote of no confidence against KZN Premier Thami Ntuli in December.

Scrolla.africa has learnt that some of the leaders are starting to raise concerns that their strategy to ignore Shinga and go straight to her president, Ivan Barnes, to engage him on the vote of no confidence against Premier Ntuli was a political disaster.

“We discussed this thing, we should have spoken to Shinga since she is the one who is at the KZN Legislature. By doing so, we would have won the vote of no confidence but we chose to undermine her and spoke to her President who is not even part of the Legislature. Just imagine if it was done to us,” a source said.

KwaNdengezi: Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested two suspects, aged 44 and 45, for possession of an unlicensed firearm and attempted murder. The suspects were arrested in two separate operations conducted in KwaNdengezi and Muden, respectively.

On Monday, 9 February 2026, members of the Provincial Task Team arrested a 44-year-old suspect in connection with a case of attempted murder which took place in KwaNdengezi on Sunday, 8 February 2026. It is alleged that the suspect went to a tuckshop and demanded a certain brand of cigarettes.

Durban: Blood test results of some of the 24 motorists arrested for drunk driving in Umhlanga Rocks are back, and many have been found guilty. MEC Siboniso Duma has hailed RTI for working efficiently with SAPS, Durban Metro Police, the Department of Health, as well as the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DoJCD).
