Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder combined with the ball to set up the Gujarat Titans’ nervy four-wicket win over the Punjab Kings in Sunday’s IPL clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

After winning the toss and bowling on a seamer-friendly pitch, Gujarat’s attack struck early.

Rabada grabbed two key wickets in the powerplay to leave Punjab reeling at 47-5.

Suryansh Shedge counter-attacked with a blistering 57 off 29 balls, including five sixes, while Marcus Stoinis added 40 off 31 and Marco Jansen chipped in with 20 from 11.

Holder then took charge, finishing with 4 wickets as he removed Nehal Wadhera, Shreyas Iyer, Stoinis and Xavier Bartlett.

Punjab closed off their innings on 163-9.

Gujarat’s chase was anchored by Sai Sudharsan’s 57 off 41 and Jos Buttler’s quick 25.

Punjab hit back through Vijaykumar Vyshak, 2-31, and Arshdeep Singh, 2-24, to drag the game to the death.

With the equation tight, Washington Sundar’s unbeaten 40 kept Gujarat in control.

Arshad Khan then held his nerve in the final over, squeezing a four to fine leg to seal victory with one ball remaining.

The result leaves Gujarat fifth on the table, level on points with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Rajasthan Royals, though RCB do have a game in hand.
