Orlando Pirates could be without Masindi Nemtajela after the midfielder was subbed off in the closing stages of their 6-0 win over TS Galaxy on Sunday.
The 24-year-old midfielder suffered an injury during the match and had to be substituted for Makhehlene Makhaula with a few minutes left remaining at the Mbombela Stadium.
Nemtajela had a good outing against the Rockets, contributing to an assist. Since joining the Buccaneers this season, the talented midfielder has featured 22 times across all competitions, scoring once and that was in the CAF Champions League preliminary stages.
Nemtajela provided an assist for Pirates in 6-0 win
Pirates fans were concerned after the player was stretched off the field. Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou did not provide feedback regarding Nemtajela’s injury but there are concerns that the midfielder might be out for several weeks.
@NoloUnited wrote: “Hope that injury on Nemtajela wasn’t anything serious. He’ll have enough time to recover during the international break.”
@PrincessSkhu wrote: “They were so perfect angifuni ukungasho I hope Nemtajela is ok cos he was taken out with a stretcher.”
Orlando Pirates’ 6-0 win over Galaxy puts them in first place in the Betway Premiership with eight matches remaining. Mamelodi Sundowns are two points behind but have a game in hand having played in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.
Advantage is still with the Brazilans but if the Buccaneers can win their matches, Downs might play catch-up, which will put them under pressure given their CAF commitments.
