The town of Chatham, Virginia, has declared a Stage 2 water emergency as its two reservoirs fall during a severe regional drought, and its town manager says tropical storm rain would be welcome relief. The declaration affects about 960 homes and businesses in the Pittsylvania County seat, which is asking, but not yet requiring, residents to cut back on water use, WDBJ reported.
