Just a day after the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture revealed the names of 16 local fans who will go to the tournament after winning the Mzansi to the World Cup Lucky Fan Competition, he also announced that the government had invited the South Africa squad from when they hosted the global showpiece 16 years ago to attend the opening match of the 2026 edition.
