Yorkshire have signed wicketkeeper-batter Sam Whiteman on a three-year deal.

The 33-year-old was part of the Western Australia side that won three successive Sheffield Shield titles between 2022 and 2024 and captained them to the latter two.

He was born in Doncaster before emigrating with his family aged three, so will count as a local domestic player for the White Rose.

Whiteman previously had a spell in the County Championship with Northamptonshire in 2023.

"I'm thrilled to have signed with my home county - the timing is right for me to return to the UK and once the opportunity arose for me to sign with Yorkshire, it was one that was too good for me to turn down," Whiteman told the club website.

"I cannot wait to step out onto Headingley for the first time. It's the best ground and best wicket in the English game and it'll be a really proud moment for me to pull on the Yorkshire shirt for the first time in April."
