THE FUSE

The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) officially launched its 2026 Mandela Day commemoration at the Vhuthiho Multipurpose Cooperative Project in the Tshikonelo area of Tshamidzi Village within the Collins Chabane Local Municipality. The event brought together government leaders, traditional authorities, community stakeholders and local residents in a united effort to promote sustainable agriculture and rural development. Leading the day’s activities was the MEC for Limpopo Agriculture and Rural Development, Ms. Nakedi Grace Kekana, who joined community members in celebrating Nelson Mandela’s legacy through meaningful action rather than symbolic gestures. The initiative highlighted the department’s commitment to strengthening food security, empowering rural communities and creating sustainable livelihoods. By focusing on agriculture as a tool for development, the Mandela Day programme demonstrated how collaboration can create lasting benefits for local communities.
