Overcoming physical challenges from birth, he completed a competitive race in 43:43, proving how resilience can turn a challenge into a success story.

Bloemfontein, South Africa (04 March 2026) – Realeboha stopped the clock at 43 minutes and 43 seconds at the Mimosa Mall Marathon 10km this past Saturday.

Among the hundreds of runners lining up, he stood ready to complete a race that represented years of resilience. Born with Moebius Syndrome and syndactyly, Realeboha’s early years were defined by medical challenges, with reconstructive surgery in 2012 marking a turning point in his life. But that chapter was only the beginning. Over time, running became part of his rebuilding journey.

Saturday’s performance reflected that journey. His 00:43:43 finish is a seriously competitive time in a 10km field. Behind the performance was a strong support structure that ensured he arrived fully prepared. Organisations came together to equip him with quality running gear, provide the necessary sports nutrition, and secure proper rest ahead of race day.

“I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who believed in me,” he said. “The right kit, the right fuel and proper rest made a real difference. You didn’t just help me run, you helped me compete, and you helped me carry this message of hope further.”

As a Smile Foundation Ambassador, he understands that every race is layered with symbolism. He runs not only for himself, but for the young patients currently navigating hospital corridors, for families sitting beside recovery beds, and for children wondering what life might look like after surgery.

On race day, Realeboha and his quick 43:43 proved what’s possible with the right support and strong self-belief.
