Orlando Pirates are the best team in South Africa, Chiefs legend declares

AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane has labelled Orlando Pirates as the best team in the country following his side’s 3-0 defeat this past weekend.
Usuthu were outplayed by the Buccaneers, with Zwane admitting his team struggled to cope with Pirates’ quality throughout the match.
“I think we should have scored first. We had a chance to get a goal early in the game,” said the former Kaizer Chiefs defender.
“Playing against a team of Orlando Pirates’ calibre, they’re a difficult team to play against. They have so much quality in their squad.
“We needed to absorb the pressure and wait for the right moment, but the quality is not the same as what they have,” he added.

Zwane, affectionately known as ‘Mangethe’, was full of praise for the Soweto giants, admitting he had not faced such a dominant side this season.
“As I said, playing against a top-quality side – to me, they are the best team in the country,” he continued.
“I’ve never been exposed like this this season against any of the teams we’ve played. So yes, I give credit to them.
“They did a good job. Ours is to forget about this result and focus on the next game,” Zwane concluded.
Orlando Pirates are in action this weekend against Zwane’s former team Kaizer Chiefs. Mangethe is the last Amakhosi coach to win a league match against the Sea Robbers, having secured a league double during the 2022/23 Betway Premiership season.
