Not quite sure how I got here but I guess I somehow did. I never would think i would cover such a topic, can’t remember what exactly I read or was thinking about to even intrigue my interest in this topic but something did. So I wanted to discuss National Pride and its modality, usually when someone is born within a country they have a sense of pride for their country unless something significant has happened to them within that country then it will become little to non-existent. National Pride is big no matter where it comes from I’ve talked to many people and they love their country but it may not be the most sustainable to live in, so they chooses to relocate for a better future whether for their kids and family or themselves. Now this is where it get tricky because American Pride is rather quite different, I honestly can’t really speak for every single country and citizen but from what I’ve seen those that are born in America don’t necessarily fall into I’m a happy America citizen representing my country until it benefits them in a particular situation. Meaning whenever they have to exercise themselves in a way, they will gladly throw around the American word until they come back to America then it no longer viable to actually use almost like it’s an insult rather than wanting to be American in A American country. I’ve also noticed the concept of Ethnic Pride or Race Pride that is more exclusively appealing to Americans as a way to keep others out. In the case of being Black, Hispanic, Chinese, Jamaican, Haitian, Cuban etc… rather than just being an American they will say their Ethnic or Race background first. Now I can understand depending on the question being asked why one might say their race or Ethnic first but I do believe it is a genuine disservice to not simply say American First and the rest second, as a indication of National Pride. Now Here where the real conversation begins because I want to discuss ICE for a second and how it rather Ironic how most people are trying to fight against it but will use the same tactics against other, figures where did they learn that from? So once again I can understand not wanting to be treated a certain way like less than human, concentration camp, kids going missing and a few more but those things I’m not discussing on but rather the tactics use in the everyday world to get rid of and discriminate others. Most individuals who consider themselves A part of something will use the discrimination tactic exclusively to those who aren’t a part of them. You don’t look, sound, think so how could you possibly be a part of us. There is also uses of fear mongering such as using history as a way to understand and accept discrimination as this why its important so that the colonizers don’t make their way in. I believe most people kind of forgot how important colonization is in order for them to be here, every country has partaken in some form to futhur themselves, lineage, or people. Openly discriminating against other can be seen in the work place simply excluding a coworker because of who they are personality wise or how they made you feel. Now not all coworker are bad but some are and these tactics use to keep them out makes no difference. Who to trust and who not to trust, is all that being made out. So we branch into keeping things in house when honestly that doesn’t work either based off of Race or Ethnicity because there will always be a betrayer because betrayer fail to achieve what it is they lack. So how can anyone have a sense of Pride when they are constantly discriminating against other or even the slightest of things such as, bugs, food, places etc. We may not call it that but it simply is what it is, discrimination and hierarchy are almost exclusively the same, so when we speak of keeping others out, we do have to remember how form of Ideology can rather be ingrained whether we learned or taught ourselves this. So is what ICE doing bad per se, well, not in the slightest they are getting rid of those who either overstayed their welcome as anyone would with a unwanted housemate/ guess or benefitting in ways other’s aren’t able to because the laws are giving them first access/priority. Yes being treated less than human is wrong but squatting is too and that’s a whole nother situation within itself. When we discuss Pride we also discuss how one takes ownership of who we are and not what we disagree upon or disapprove of. Once we start to show what we disapprove of, our whole identity is where we start to exhibit the same Irony. In a way we continue to disapprove we also go to great lengths and extreme to say or show in which we aren’t like others. So in no way is this Article speaking of the bad or the good but more so, the Pride in which we do thing can ultimately become the Irony in which we try to escape.
