Orlando Pirates opened their league campaign with a 2-0 victory over Milford FC and then secured their place in the MTN8 semi-finals after a dramatic quarter-final against Durban City. Gamphani Lungu’s 120th-minute winner ensured the Buccaneers survived a tense encounter.

The Soweto giants will be hoping their squad depth can handle the quick turnaround as they begin a run of away fixtures.

History is firmly on Orlando Pirates’ side. The Buccaneers have dominated this fixture in recent league meetings and completed a league double over AmaZulu last season, winning 2-0 in Durban and 3-0 at home.

AmaZulu, however, will believe home advantage can help them end that long wait for a victory over their opponents.

Kaizer Chiefs vs Sekhukhune United

Kaizer Chiefs return to Betway Premiership action with a chance to respond immediately to their MTN8 disappointment when they host Sekhukhune United at FNB Stadium.

Amakhosi began their league campaign with an away 3-1 victory over newcomers Kruger United and will be determined to preserve their perfect record.

Their MTN8 elimination last weekend was their first setback of the new season, making Wednesday’s fixture an important opportunity to restore confidence.

Reeve Frosler says the squad has already addressed the problems exposed in the cup defeat and is motivated to produce a better performance.

Sekhukhune United will arrive with a similar objective. Babina Noko also won their opening league match before being knocked out of the MTN8, meaning both teams will be desperate to respond positively.
