TakealotNow Expands On-Demand Shopping Service to Durban. Takealot has expanded its on-demand delivery service, TakealotNow, to Durban, extending the offering to customers in Morningside, Berea, Westville, and parts of Durban North.

The service, which is available through the Mr D app, is designed to meet the growing demand for on-demand shopping. TakealotNow allows customers to order a wide range of products, including trending technology, bestselling books, DIY tools, beauty essentials, household items, and other everyday goods, with delivery taking place within minutes.

The expansion marks the latest addition to TakealotNow’s growing footprint in South Africa. According to Takealot, the service was initially introduced as a pilot project in 2023 and has since expanded to the greater Cape Town region, Johannesburg, and Pretoria before its latest rollout in Durban.

Chief marketing officer at Takealot, Karla Levick, said the expansion reflects the company’s focus on convenience and efficiency. “We understand how important convenience is, and we aim to make shopping quick and efficient for shoppers with demanding lifestyles,” Levick said.

Marnus Engelbrecht, head of TakealotNow, noted that the service has seen rapid growth since its launch. “TakealotNow started as a pilot project in 2023, and has grown rapidly ever since. We have expanded to the greater Cape Town region, Johannesburg, Pretoria, and now Durban. We’re excited to continue this growth and bring the convenience of on-demand shopping to even more areas across South Africa,” Engelbrecht said.

Customers can access TakealotNow in two ways. While browsing eligible products on the Takealot app, shoppers can select the “Get it Now” option, which indicates items available for immediate delivery and fulfilled through Mr D. Alternatively, users can locate the TakealotNow store directly on the Mr D app by navigating to the “Shops” section.

The expansion also complements TakealotMore, the Takealot Group’s subscription service priced at R99 per month. TakealotMore members receive unlimited free TakealotNow deliveries, along with exclusive coupons and other benefits included in the subscription offering.

The service forms part of Takealot’s broader retail ecosystem, combining its existing online marketplace with rapid delivery capabilities. By integrating with Mr D, TakealotNow enables shoppers in selected Durban areas to access products quickly through a familiar platform, expanding choice within the local on-demand delivery space for customers locally.
