Former Miss South Africa 2010 and Miss World Africa 2011 titleholder Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala has reached a remarkable milestone in the world of pageantry after securing the South African rights to the Miss World competition.
The achievement places Montjane-Tshabalala in a unique and influential position within the global beauty pageant industry. With the addition of the Miss World South Africa franchise to her portfolio, she now holds the national franchise rights to the three most prestigious international beauty competitions — Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss Supranational.
This extraordinary accomplishment completes what many in the pageant industry would consider a rare trifecta. Through her company, African Beauty International (ABI), Montjane-Tshabalala continues to expand her influence and vision for South African beauty queens on the international stage.
Her journey to this moment began in 2025 when ABI acquired the Miss Universe South Africa licence. Montjane-Tshabalala was then appointed National Director of Miss Universe South Africa. In the same year, she also took on the role of National Director of Miss Supranational South Africa.
Now, by adding the Miss World South Africa franchise to her growing portfolio, she has completed a clean sweep of the “Big Three” pageants, making her one of the most powerful figures in South African pageantry.
For Montjane-Tshabalala, the achievement carries special meaning because she understands firsthand what it takes to compete on the world stage.
“I have walked those stages,” says Montjane-Tshabalala, who competed at both Miss World and Miss Universe. “I have stood under those lights as a competitor, felt what it means to carry the South African flag into those arenas, and I know – deeply and personally – what is at stake when a young woman steps out to represent this country.”
She added: “That lived experience is not something you can manufacture. It is the foundation everything I am building now rests on. South Africa will not just participate in these competitions. South Africa will compete to win.”
The three international competitions will take place across different continents during the remainder of 2026. Miss Supranational 2026 is scheduled for July 31 at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheatre in Nowy Sacz, Poland, while Miss World 2026 will take place on September 5, with Vietnam confirmed as the host country for the 73rd edition of the historic pageant.
