Lerato Kganyago and Lawrence Maleka to Host Metro FM Music Awards

South African DJ and radio host Lerato Kganyago and actor and TV presenter Lawrence Maleka have been announced as the hosts of the Metro FM Music Awards 2026.

The highly anticipated awards ceremony will take place on 25 April 2026 at the Durban ICC in Durban. The event will air live on SABC 1 and will also be available for streaming on SABC+ at 20:00. The annual ceremony celebrates excellence in South African music and honours some of the country’s most talented artists.

Speaking to Metro FM, both hosts shared their excitement about leading the show this year. Lerato Kganyago said she is thrilled to be sharing the stage with Lawrence Maleka.

“I’m super excited about hosting this one with Lawrence. When they told me I said, ‘I couldn’t think of anybody else.‘“

Lawrence Maleka also expressed his excitement about hosting the awards for the first time and described the opportunity as a major career milestone.

“I’m pretty much excited this is going to by first Metro’s. So, when I found out I was pretty excited and I was pretty stoked. It was one of those on your bucket list and your just like okay, this is something I would definitely do. When I found out who I’m working with I was like, ‘Come on bro!’ I’m truly excited to be joint the Metro FM family. Truly excited for the nominees. I’m truly excited for everybody to just experience the many wonderful glittering dresses that Lerato is going to throw at South Africa!”

Both stars bring plenty of experience in front of the camera and behind the microphone. Lerato Kganyago previously hosted the Metro FM Music Awards 2023 alongside award-winning television presenter Katlego Maboe.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Maleka is well known for hosting Big Brother Mzansi season 3 in 2022 and season 4 in 2024.

With their lively personalities and strong stage presence, the duo is expected to bring energy and entertainment to the Metro FM Music Awards stage as they celebrate the best in South African music.
