DJ and radio presenter Lamiez Holworthy has opened up about her wedding, giving fans a closer look at the special day through touching behind-the-scenes moments. The star shared a beautiful video capturing highlights from her wedding to rapper Khuli Chana, with one moment in particular leaving many emotional.
In the video, Khuli Chana’s daughter, Nia, delivers a heartfelt speech dedicated to her stepmother, Lamiez. Nia, who comes from Khuli Chana’s previous relationship, speaks warmly about the bond they’ve built over time.
“I’m so happy that we get to celebrate them because they really do deserve this and seeing them so happy together makes me so happy. My dad introduced me to her as his new girlfriend, meaning she would be my new step mom. Step moms tend to have a certain stereotype from all the movies we’ve seen, but she’s never shown anything but love and will forever be my second mom and my role model,” Nia said during her speech.
Lamiez also reflected deeply on the meaning behind her wedding day in the caption of her post, sharing how the celebration went far beyond just the union between her and her husband.
“I look back at my wedding celebration and there are so many moments that still blow me away. But please listen to my little girl- I think being her mom, loving her unconditionally and raising her came naturally for me because I too was raised by an amazing man who stepped up and loved me unconditionally despite not being mine biologically. Sadly he passed away in 2019 and even though I honoured him in my speech at my wedding ,l will forever celebrate him,” she wrote.
She continued by explaining how the day was about family, heritage, and identity.
“My wedding day wasn’t just about my husband and lit was about our children, honouring our parents, bringing together families, our friends-our tribe who constantly show up for us and for me? Reclaiming my heritage-celebrating all those who came before me and all those who are yet to come hence incorporating both my Indian and Tsonga heritage into as important. It was embracing ko bogading baka and owning the woman that I have become.”
Through her post, Lamiez not only celebrated love but also highlighted the importance of blended families, cultural pride, and honouring those who have shaped her journey.
