Jeffreys Bay Primary’s recent Civvies Day wasn’t just a break from the dress code; it was to champion a cause close to their coast.
Jeffreys Bay, South Africa (13 February 2026) – You don’t need years of experience to make a difference in the world. The youngsters of Jeffreys Bay Primary School took a page out of this book recently when they gave back to the heroes who brave South African waters to save lives.
The school recently hosted a Civvies Day where learners came through in their brightest, bluest and best threads in support of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).
Beyond dressing up, they contributed funds towards the organisation as their big thank you to the NSRI members for their courage, dedication, and lifesaving work.
Through this initiative, the school raised an incredible R5,886 for the NSRI Jeffreys Bay station!
“We are truly grateful to the learners, parents, and staff who took part and supported the day. Contributions like these play an important role in helping us remain operational and rescue-ready, and it’s inspiring to see young members of our community getting involved and making a difference. Thank you for your generosity and for supporting the life-saving work of the NSRI,” said NSRI Station 37 Jeffreys Bay.
For those who may not be aware, the NSRI is a registered non-profit organisation that is committed to drowning prevention and focused on saving lives, changing lives and creating futures for those threatened by drowning in South Africa. It is unique in South Africa as the only non-profit organisation focusing exclusively on safeguarding lives and livelihoods in coastal and inland waters through education, prevention, and rescue operations.
Good Things Guy applauds the youngsters of Jeffreys Bay Primary for their recent fundraiser, which will boost this vital work – proving that when a community of children rallies together, they can create a literal “sea change” of support!
