Do Left-Handers Have More Sleep Problems Than Right-Handers?

Psychology Today | 19.09.2026 05:33
Most people are right-handed, but about 10.6 percent are left-handed. Interestingly, there have been reports that handedness may influence sleep quality, but they have been inconsistent. Some small studies suggest left-handers may have better sleep, while others suggest they wake more often at night. However, these studies only tested a few volunteers and relied on self-reports, not accurate scientific measurements. Thus, for a long time, it has been unclear whether handedness affects sleep quality.
