KwaZulu-Natal MEC Inspects Bhambanana Red Meat Abattoir as Renovations Begin

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s MEC, Ms Thembeni kaMadlopha-Mthethwa, recently visited the Bhambanana Red Meat Abattoir in Jozini to assess infrastructure functionality and promote transparency and accountability. Built in 2012, the abattoir was designed to stimulate regional economic growth, create jobs, and address the devastating effects of the 2011 Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak. The MEC’s visit coincided with the official handover of the facility to ECA Consulting (PTY) Ltd, the newly appointed service provider tasked with completing renovations valued at R16.45 million.
