The immorality of Abortion

Are you thankful your parents didn’t abort you at conception? Do you not think other children should have that privilege as well? I affirm the claim that abortion should be illegal in the United States, for the murder of children can not be justified in any way, shape, or form; Life should be protected in all stages.

Abortion is Murder. Many pro-choicers claim otherwise, saying that the fetus is “nonliving,” but living things are so clearly defined that there is no grey area in science. Throughout our lives, from childhood to adulthood, we are taught the fundamental science of life in our science textbooks. According to Yunus A. Cengel, as reported by the National Institute of Health in 2023, living beings are characterized by the ability to adapt to their environment, the unity of complex life forms acting as one, reproduction, and the capability of self-healing. Fetuses are made of cells, just like you and me, that make copies of one another to multiply. Babies actually have more stem cells than adults, which helps with self-repair. They are human, and every human has the right to live, regardless of the stage in life. By scientific definition, what is inside the womb of the woman is, without a doubt, cell-based, growing, responding to stimuli, and therefore is a living being, and by the phylum rule, human. In the recent 60 years, it has been legally allowed to murder this living being. Let us take into account that 200 years ago, it was also legal to murder a slave if the owner deemed it unfit. Is this not what we are doing? Does history truly repeat itself in such vicious cycles? By the Oxford dictionary definition, pro-choice is opposing abortion and euthanasia. Euthanasia is defined as assisted suicide. Assisted death. It is not “my body, my choice,” but that does not apply when it is not just your body; there is a living, growing being inside. ‘Fetuses are not alive, ’ yet what is a miscarriage? Life is something precious, which Lauren Bobert from Bobert House speaks of in 2024, claiming that “every human being has inherent value and dignity, regardless of development, ability, age, gender, or race.” Life is precious, and the murder of children cannot be sanctioned. According to the World Health Organization, “around 73 million induced abortions take place worldwide each year.” Let’s consider the lives lost. It is genocide, but the scary thing in this day and time is that it is no longer red versus blue, but it’s insanity versus humanity. Where is our humanity? When did we all simultaneously decide that the murder of children could be justified depending on circumstance? This is about taking accountability. As abortion continues, we are not only losing lives, but we are also losing the opportunities to make this world a better place. One of those children could have been the next Einstein, found the cure for cancer, or been a friend to a person who needed it. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy, but every child deserves a birthday
This issue is the criminal justice system, not the baby. Women do not feel safe. That is not a surprise, for we all know this, which is why we are scared to go to the gas station at night or walk alone. Women do not have the security that men do, and for that, the children are suffering. Morgan R. and Oudederk B. from the US Department of Justice and the Bureau of Justice Statistics in 2019 conclude that 1 in 5 women experienced either completed or attempted rape at least once in their lifetime. Only 25% of those victims even reported it to the police. Why is that? Women do not have the respect that men do in courts; women are not taken seriously because they are too “emotional.” The criminal system’s failures are incredibly evident in their shortcomings of handling domestic violence, predation, and sexual assault. Kristian L.T. Blom from Santa Barbara Independent in 2024, speaks about a male predator who was caught recording children undressing at a school where he taught. He was initially charged with a misdemeanor, and he was granted bail. Despite further evidence of child molestation, he was then granted bail a second time by a male judge who did not understand the knowledge of behavioral science, allowing the suspect back into society; the girls got no justice. “Such systemic failures send a stark message to women and girls: Their trauma is not important enough to warrant attention,” says L.T. Blom. Many cases can confirm that rape is a cause of abortion, but children should not be punished for a man’s vile and failures. The child is not the problem; the problem is the law. The problem is that men feel too safe, too comfortable, to know that they will get away with such vile behaviors. By killing children, an effect of rape, rather than punishing the cause, only encourages more molestation behavior, for abortion is a solution to paying child care, it is the discarding of evidence, and it only validates the power men have over us. Women need to fight back, rather than simply discarding an innocent baby and moving on like nothing happened. Rape cannot be erased. It will consistently haunt the individual, but the knowledge that they let that person win, that the life of an innocent was taken as a result, is the iniquity that many women will drown in. A survey with 190 rape or sexual assault victims was conducted by Elliot Institut, which found that “nearly 80% of the women who aborted the pregnancy reported that abortion had been the wrong solution.” None of the women who kept the child reported regret or wished they had aborted instead. Children are not a curse; they are a gift. Life is a gift. Society has failed us.
Abortion is not just unethical, it is unjust, and in conclusion, it is simply inhuman. Murder cannot be justified, whether it was rape or assault, wanted or not. Consider the guilt for murdering a child? It is selfish and cruel, and more often than not, unnecessary. Humanity is so precious, so special, and claiming it is something so fickle as to be destroyed just because it was inconvenient at the moment is insanity. It is living. It does not matter if it was convenient or not, wanted or not; what matters is that the child was created for a purpose. That child is growing, its cells are duplicating, it is performing cellular functions, and it is alive! Saying otherwise is simply ignorant of the facts around us; the biology, the science, all of life is built upon. The problem with society today is that we do what we are told, yet we do not question why. Why should the murder of an innocent child be illegal? When I say it like that, it’s not that hard to understand why, yet we come up with all these watered-down names to make us feel better about ourselves. We call it pro-choice, but really it is pro-death. Yes, you are choosing to abort a child, but you are choosing death nevertheless. We call it abortion, when it is really the premeditated slaughter of a child. A baby. This is not about you; this is about the thousands dying each day, the deaths that can so easily be prevented if we were to open our eyes and see the harm we are causing to our world. And for those reasons, I strongly believe that abortion should not be legalized in any cases whatsoever, and as future health professionals, we need to protect those without a voice, we need to be the difference.
