Jon Ruben, who previously admitted sex offences against children at a summer camp in Stathern, Leicestershire, has pleaded guilty to drugging his wife.
Ruben was arrested after eight children and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge in Leicestershire in July.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington, Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to 17 charges at Leicester Crown Court on 14 November.
Addressing Ruben at the same court on Wednesday, the judge said "you appear upset, unusually so", adding that Friday - when Ruben is due to be sentenced - will be "much more emotional".
The plea hearing was told Ruben had admitted the offence of unlawfully and maliciously administered a noxious substance with intent to injure, aggrieve, or annoy, after giving a voluntary interview.
The court heard the offence took place between 26 and 29 July.
