BENNI MCCARTHY TALKS ABOUT KAIZER CHIEFS AND BAFANA BAFANA

The topic emerged when host Marawa raised Amakhosi’s coaching situation and asked whether McCarthy would consider a move to Naturena if the opportunity presented itself.

The former striker responded candidly, making it clear that he does not entertain hypothetical scenarios without concrete interest.

“They’re [Kaizer Chiefs] happy man,” McCarthy said after Marawa said Amakhosi need a new coach. “Nobody has come knocking on my door. That means you are happy. You are happy with what you have.

“If you know when you knock on someone’s door, you are not happy.

“What ifs don’t work with me anymore,” McCarthy responded after Marawa said what if Kaizer Chiefs approach him.

“I have been in plenty of situations, even with Orlando Pirates. Came close to managing Pirates after my playing career. Nothing materialised. So no what-ifs, no.

“If they [Kaizer Chiefs] want, they know where I am, they know where I am. They know where to find me. They know how to conduct and make it happen.

“If not, then no rumours. That is just for rumours,” McCarthy added.

HIS VIEWS ON THE BAFANA BAFANA JOB

Asked about his interest in the Bafana Bafana job when coach Hugo Broos retires after the FIFA World Cup in July, McCarthy said Pitso Mosimane is best suited for the role.

“Coach Pitso has my vote for that. I think he deserves another opportunity. He is the most prestigious coach that has come out of this country,” McCarthy added.
