Kaizer Chiefs supporters had a difficult day travelling home in taxis, trains and buses after watching their side outplayed by the Sea Robbers in the Soweto derby.
With the pain still fresh in the hearts of the club’s followers, the Soweto giants have sent out some words of gratitude and encouragement
HEARTBREAKS BEFORE THE SOWETO DERBY
Amakhosi’s problems, however, did not begin with the derby defeat. The team had already been knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup following a 2-1 loss to Zamalek, shortly after suffering a shock first-round elimination from the Nedbank Cup at the hands of Stellenbosch FC.
The struggles continued in midweek league action, where another 2-1 defeat to Stellenbosch at FNB Stadium deepened the growing frustration around the club.
As a result, Kaizer Chiefs now sit fifth on the Betway Premiership table with 30 points from 17 matches, leaving their hopes of mounting a serious title challenge looking increasingly slim.
A MESSAGE FROM THE CLUB TO THE KAIZER CHIEFS SUPPORTERS
The club’s media have since gone on social media to send an apology to the club’s Khosi nation fanbase.
“Amakhosi Amahle, your passion and loyalty were on full display at the Soweto Derby on Saturday,” Kaizer Chiefs said. “You came in your numbers, arrived early, and gave the team unwavering support.
“While the result wasn’t what we had hoped for, your presence made all the difference. Makhosi, we thank you for showing up. Thank you for being there in your numbers.
“We asked for your support, and u stood by us. For this, we thank you.
“We move forward together as we focus on the next game. We move forward, not because we don’t care, but because we have to. Our mission is to do better and to show up!” Kaizer Chiefs concluded.
