I was trying to work on a piece about love, but the world’s hate is too loud. Alex Pretti is the latest victim of ICE.

He was a 37-year-old white man who legally owned a gun. He was an ICU nurse who cared for veterans. He researched treatments for cancer, and, from what I have seen, he was a gentleman. He put his life on the line to help women.

He protested for this country, a country built on protest. Isn’t he what America stands for?

And yet… What happened?

I imagine most people have at least heard about this situation, but if you can stomach it, watch the video. When the government is so quick to twist the story, it is important to see even the most gruesome things with your own eyes.

Pretti was recording with his phone and came to the defense of two women as ICE agents pushed them around. One of the agents immediately started spraying Pretti. A group of them beat him to the ground.

The gun he legally carried, and never drew, was removed, and shots followed. They shot Pretti, who was still blinded and on the ground, multiple times. Pretti, as far as I’m…
