Movies and TV that show teen characters who are socially or physically appealing can be very influential on teen audiences, especially if they identify with them. According to Albert Bandura’s social cognitive theory, teens adopt behaviors, beliefs, and self-efficacy through observing others. Unfortunately, many Hollywood films and television have not always done a great job of reflecting teen reality. Many times, they just perpetuate more stereotypes and unrealistic, overly idealized narratives about life and love.
