Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane has pledged support for a growing agro-processing enterprise in Bizana that is strengthening local food production and rural economic activity. The business is owned by young farmer Nandipha Sodwele from Ward 7, Nyanisweni village, who processes maize into mealie meal and other agricultural products that serve both households and livestock farmers. Her operation reflects a shift from raw agricultural production to value-added processing, which keeps more economic value within rural communities. The initiative has gained attention for its contribution to food affordability and job creation in the Alfred Nzo District. The Premier’s commitment highlights the importance of supporting emerging rural entrepreneurs who are building scalable agricultural value chains.
