South African DJ and radio host Lamiez Holworthy proved that even an unexpected tumble could not stop her from enjoying one of the biggest music festivals in the world. The star had the time of her life at the 2026 Afro Nation festival in Portugal, embracing every moment of the experience, even after falling on stage during her performance.

The 2026 Afro Nation festival took place from July 3 to 5 on the famous sands of Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal, bringing together thousands of music lovers from around the globe. The event also featured an impressive lineup of South African talent, including Tyla, Uncle Waffles, Zee Nxumalo, MaWhoo, and many more who proudly represented the country on an international stage.

Lamiez’s unforgettable moment happened on Day Two of the festival while she was performing alongside DJ Njelic. Instead of being embarrassed by the incident, she chose to laugh it off and later shared a video of the fall on Instagram, showing fans that sometimes the best memories come from the most unexpected moments.

Reflecting on the incident, Lamiez joked about getting older.

“There is something about when you are in your thirties, right? The knees are not the same anymore. Not me falling on stage, Sana, in front of thousands of people.

“Njelic struggled to pick me up, but I am here, I am alive. That was so much fun,” she said.

Her light-hearted reaction quickly reminded fans why she remains one of South Africa’s most loved personalities, with many appreciating her ability to laugh at herself while continuing to entertain the massive crowd.

Before taking to the stage, Lamiez had already shared her excitement about being part of Afro Nation. She revealed that she was headlining the Hennessy Sky Terrace, an opportunity she clearly cherished.

“It’s ten past eight in Portugal and I am out with Afronation with Hennessy. I’m headlining the Hennessy Sky terrace which is going to be insane.”

The DJ also opened up about how different the festival experience felt compared to what she was used to, especially being surrounded by people from across Africa and around the world.

“It’s so wild for me because I’m not used to being at events so early. I’m not used to being among people. So this is all new to me, but it is also just so exciting getting to experience Africans from all over, people from all over the world. But one, it is seeing how proud other Africans are of their countries,” she said.

Lamiez ended her message with a heartfelt tribute to her roots, making it clear that no matter where her career takes her, South Africa will always be at the centre of her success.

“Look, all that I am is because of Pretoria, it’s because of South Africa, it’s because of Africa, it’s because of you.”

Although her on-stage fall briefly stole the spotlight, Lamiez Holworthy turned the moment into one filled with laughter, gratitude and unforgettable memories. From headlining the Hennessy Sky Terrace to celebrating African excellence with thousands of fans in Portugal, the DJ showed that a small stumble could never overshadow an incredible Afro Nation experience.
