The King Mhlontlo Local Municipality has taken a practical step to support rural livelihoods by investing in wool production infrastructure. Working alongside the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, the municipality has delivered wool shearing and pressing machines to farmers and herders in Ward 1 and Ward 21. This move targets one of the key challenges facing small-scale wool producers, which is limited access to modern equipment. Many farmers have relied on outdated or shared tools that slow down production and reduce the quality of wool. By introducing efficient machinery, the initiative aims to change how local farmers operate and compete in the market.
