Basetsana Kumalo Celebrates Her Daughter’s 12th Birthday

South African TV personality Basetsana Kumalo is celebrating a very special milestone as her daughter, Bontle ba Morena Jasmine Kumalo, turns 12.
To mark the occasion, Basetsana shared a touching video of her daughter from when she was still a baby. The proud mother also penned a heartfelt birthday message, taking a trip down memory lane and reflecting on the moment she welcomed Bontle into the world.
In her emotional message, Basetsana recalled how she chose not to find out the gender of her baby during her pregnancy. Instead, she focused on the blessing of carrying life and waited until the day of the birth to discover whether she had welcomed a boy or a girl.
She wrote, “To my darling baby girl…
So let me tell you a story, when I was pregnant with you, I didn’t find out if we were having a boy or a girl. I was just blessed to be carrying life in me. On the day of your birth, Papa and Mama Niko @johanna.makgalemele who were always there when I gave birth… after a few seconds that you were born, Mama Niko asks the doctor..“so doctor tell us, is it a boy or a girl?” The answer came “it’s a girl.” I couldn’t stop crying. We were all crying. Holding you for the first time, my life changed torever.”
Basetsana went on to share how much joy Bontle has brought into their family since the day she was born. She also reflected on the special bond between Jasmine and her brother, who she said “doted over you from the day you were born.”
“The sunshine of our lives,” Basetsana affectionately described her daughter, adding that watching Jasmine grow into her own person has been beautiful to witness.
The proud mother also celebrated her daughter’s personality, praising her “inquiring mind,” “zeal for life,” “courageous spirit” and confidence. She described Jasmine as “brave and unafraid” while highlighting her compassionate, kind, generous, caring and giving nature.
Basetsana also expressed her belief that her daughter is “born for greatness,” describing her as smart, diligent and a hard worker. She even revealed a sweet detail about Jasmine’s sense of style, calling her “My style queen who picks my outfits, matching bags and accessories.”
As Bontle enters her 12th year, Basetsana encouraged her daughter to remain grounded, continue serving the Lord and never allow anyone to dim her light.
She wrote, “Write your own story, walk your own path, dance to the rhythm of your own beat and don’t apologize for being authentically you.”
Ending her touching tribute, Basetsana shared a heartfelt prayer for her daughter, wishing that she would always be blessed, protected and surrounded by favour, joy and grace.
She concluded her beautiful message by writing, “Happy 12th birthday Bontle ba Morena Jasmine Kumalo.”
