The breeze came along at the perfect time, blow-drying the sweat trickling down our faces as we trudged slowly up the face of the mountain. Vanilla-scented pines danced in the wind, cliffs towered above our heads and hikers on their way down rooted us on and said we were almost there. They were liars. Lies we quickly forgave once we finally reached the top.
