Even Murdering White Women Won’t Change Anything Now

Is it too late? I don’t want to be a pessimist, but I feel like I’m already in the throes of a dystopian novel. Sure, this is the flashback scene where the reader learns how freedoms slipped away, but my hopes for turning back the tide are slipping away.
I imagine most people heard ICE killed a white woman in Minneapolis. Renee Nicole Good was an American citizen, and more importantly, a person.
I usually try to avoid watching videos of murder. It is easy to become desensitized, but my friend dropped this one in our texting group, and I observed with little context.
I’m glad I did. Within two hours, the government was spinning the story to make the ICE agent a victim. No matter the story they tell, there was no reason for this MASKED ICE agent to shoot into a car.
In comics, Spider-Man is called a threat and a menace just for wearing a mask. Imagine if he were killing people, too, but in the real world, we are expected to just flow with it.
When I saw the mainstream coverage of this story, and with the victim being white, for a second, despite the horror of the story, I felt hope. This could be a turning point.
