China and the US salivate over a slice of huge Ethiopian airport project

The US is pushing its aviation companies and technology at Ethiopia’s $12.5-billion Bishoftu International Airport, whereas Chinese firms dominate the shortlist to build it. The contest is drawing in lenders from the US, China, Europe, the Middle East and multilateral institutions as Ethiopia builds a new hub for its fast-growing state-owned Ethiopian Airlines Group.
