If there is one thing that’s become clear about British politics in the last several months, it’s that we really are going through a period where satisfaction with the two main parties is rapidly deteriorating. The 2024 election saw third parties receive a massive amount of support, far more than they had previously, with parties such as the Greens making major gains as well as Reform UK.
Quite a bit has been written about Reform UK since the election took place, as they’ve been able to climb to the top of many national polls, and members of Reform, such as Nigel Farage and Richard Tice, regularly appear on national TV to air their views to the masses. Whether you agree with Reform or not, and I certainly don’t, one thing you absolutely can’t deny about them is that they’ve been able to make a major splash in such a short amount of time.
For a while, people were looking to Reform as a major alternative to the status quo and the two-party system that has dominated British politics for more than a century at this point. As time has gone on, however, more and more has come to light showing that Reform really are just a glorified retirement home for failed Tories.
