THE FUSE

The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in partnership with the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership and DEKALB, recently hosted a highly successful farmers’ field day at the Mandiwana Irrigation Scheme in Nzhelele, within the Makhado Local Municipality. The event provided a practical platform for farmers to enhance their knowledge of maize production techniques and modern agricultural practices. By combining demonstration plots with expert guidance, participants were able to see the direct impact of hybrid maize seeds on crop performance. This hands-on approach ensured that farmers could connect theory with practice, improving their ability to implement new strategies on their own farms. The field day highlighted the commitment of both public and private sector partners to support smallholder farmers in adopting sustainable, high-yielding practices.
