MEC Madoda Sambatha continued his agricultural oversight programme in Moretele Local Municipality with a visit to the Lefakong Moringa Project in Bosplaas, founded by farmer Maboang Matlou. The project formed part of a series of agricultural engagements intended to assess progress at local farming initiatives and strengthen government support for agricultural development. Matlou, a multi-award-winning farmer who was recently recognised at the South African Agricultural Awards, has established a project centred on moringa production. The visit provided an opportunity for the Department to engage with the project and gain a clearer understanding of its activities and development needs. It also brought attention to the role that dedicated farmers can play in expanding agricultural opportunities and promoting the use of crops with potential food and commercial value.
