Chiefs board promises more transfer activity

Bobby Motaung confirmed that fans can expect more signings before the PSL transfer window closes in September as they back new manager Fernando Da Cruz to deliver success.

“The new coach obviously knows he has to win the league, he has to win cups, he has to bring the glory days back. He must enjoy his work with the support that we are giving him with the players and everybody,” Motaung told FARPost in an exclusive interview.

“In football, you never stop thinking of any new signings. In football, you are always looking for the best. If you get the best in the market, you get it, and if you can afford it and there is space for them and the coach needs them, we will always support.”

Chiefs remain unbeaten in the league

Kaizer Chiefs’ new boss has started life in decent shape, defeat in the MTN8 notwithstanding. Unbeaten after four Betway Premiership matches, the Glamour Boys held Sundowns to a 1-1 draw but followed it with a 2-2 draw at Richards Bay in the torrential rain. Next up is a home clash with Siwelele on Sunday, 6 September. Chiefs have eight points after four outings, placing them third in the table.

New-look Chiefs look tough to beat

The new Chiefs formation under Fernando Da Cruz has provided a surprise route back into the first team for Pule Mmodi at left wing-back. With competition for wide attacking places looking stiff, perhaps he can reinvent himself. The 33-year-old also started in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Richards Bay, but an injury to Thabiso Monyane might necessitate yet another change in shape. We shall see on Saturday.
