Callies want unsettled funds after Appollis’ move to Orlando Pirates

Via KickOff, Pretoria Callies chairman Moses Malada claims that Polokwane City still owe them money after the transfer of Oswin Appollis to Orlando Pirates for a fee in the region of R16 million.

“I’m still fighting with Polokwane over the sell-on agreement on Appollis,” revealed Malada.

Polokwane bought Appollis from Callies two years before his transfer to Pirates in July 2025.

Callies sold their First Division franchise to Lerumo Lions and now play in the North-West ABC Motsepe League.

“Polokwane were supposed to pay us when he transferred to Pirates,” states Malada, adding that they have a 15% sell-on agreement due to them from Polokwane.

“I know that Pirates definitely paid them all the money, and so they must give us what is due to us.

Appollis set to shine at the World Cup after a glorious season for Pirates

If the 15% sell-on clause is to be honoured, Callies could scoop R2.4 million when Polokwane settles up. As for Appollis, the 24-year-old had a season to remember for Pirates. He appeared in all 30 matches of a title-winning season, contributing nine goals and six assists in the league. Bafana is to announce its final squad on Wednesday, 27 May. South Africa kicks off its campaign against Mexico on 11 June at Mexico City’s iconic Estadio Azteca in the tournament’s opening clash. Their other Group A opponents are South Korea and Czechia.
