  • Julius Malema denied claims linking him to a Tshwane security tender and accused Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi of dragging his party into police conflicts.
  • Malema said the police commissioner must stop involving the Economic Freedom Fighters in his dispute with General Feroz Khan.

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema has hit back at KwaZulu Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

Malema said Mkhwanazi must stop involving the party in internal police disputes.

This comes after claims at the Madlanga Commission that Malema was linked to the manipulation of a Tshwane Municipality security tender in 2024.

Malema denied the claims.

Speaking at the party’s National Voter Registration Launch, he said Mkhwanazi should not drag the Economic Freedom Fighters into issues within the police service.

“We are not fanatics of Mkhwanazi. We are not all joys of Mkhwanazi or ball girls of Mkhwanazi. We stand with the truth and if you blunder we’ll tell you this is not right. We don’t care whether it’s Mkhwanazi or not,” said Malema.

He said the commissioner must not be sensitive when people criticise him.

Malema said Mkhwanazi was fighting with General Feroz Khan and wrongly bringing the party into that conflict.

According to Malema, the dispute between Mkhwanazi and Khan has nothing to do with the Economic Freedom Fighters.

“We are not scared of policemen. When we joined the struggle, we are taught not to be scared of a policeman. Mkhwanazi is fighting General Khan and every time he fights General Khan, he drags the EFF and CIC’s name to fight General Khan,” said Malema.

He said the party will continue to speak out when it believes something is wrong, no matter who is involved.
