Big Brother Mzansi season 5 winner, content creator, and brand ambassador Akhonamathemba Zwane, better known as Sweet Guluva, has addressed the rumours surrounding his alleged absence in the life of Ashley Ogle’s newborn son.

In a detailed public statement, Sweet Guluva said:

“We would like to take this opportunity to take you into confidence on the rumours currently circulating on social media alleging that Akhonamathemba Zwane – affectionately known as Sweet Guluva – is an absent father to Ms. Ashley Ogle’s newborn child. Sweet Guluva and his entire team intentionally refrained from commenting on the matter until now. This was due to the fact that we have always taken the stance that whatever relationship Ms Ogle and Sweet Guluva had was a thing of the past and their communications during the said relationship are private and confidential.”

He explained that since the beginning of 2025, he had privately requested to meet the child and for his family to visit Ashley Ogle’s family to address cultural matters:

“In addressing the rumours of the child – Sweet Guluva has since the beginning of 2025 privately requesting Ms Ogle – who claimed to have been impregnated by Sweet Guluva – to allow him to meet the child and for his family to visit Ms Ogle’s family to address the issue of damages in accordance with Zulu culture. During these interactions with Ms Ogle, it was made clear by Sweet Guluva that he wants to be involved in the child’s life. To date, Sweet Guluva has neither met nor seen this child in person as Ms Ogle is refusing to accede to the request. All of Sweet Guluva’s previous attempts to resolve this matter privately have been documented and submitted to our legal representatives.”

He also addressed recent social media confusion, noting:

“Most recently, there is a video circulating on social media in which Ms Ogle is asked questions about the identity of the father of her child. She refuses to answer this question from her fan-base by repeatedly saying ‘Jwaang’. It would seem some of Ms Ogle’s fans took this response to mean that Sweet Guluva was the father of her child. We suspect this was due to the fact that Sweet Guluva had in February 2026 made and released a tiktok video using the SeSotho word ‘Jwaang’. The said video is available @sweet.guluva on tiktok.”

Sweet Guluva’s statement emphasises his willingness to take responsibility:

“Until Ms Ogle allows Sweet Guluva and his family to meet the child in person and be permitted to do a paternity test, it would be irresponsible of Sweet Guluva at this stage to confirm or deny that he is the father of Ms Ogle’s child… We want to assure fellow South Africans especially the fans of Sweet Guluva that he is a responsible man that has never – and would never – ran away from his responsibilities. It is for this reason that he has privately engaged Ms Ogle since last year on the issue and has now taken this step of enlisting our legal representatives and take the public into confidence on the issue.”

He concluded by requesting privacy:

“We wish to emphasise that this public statement is neither intended nor must it be misconstrued to defame, attack, or discredit anyone… Please note no further comments or statements would be made regarding this matter and we humbly request to be given space to confidentially and privately address this matter with Ms Ogle and her family.”
