Introduction

Global capitalism has fundamentally reshaped the world economy, politics, and social relations.

At the heart of this transformation lies the rapid rise of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) that operate, produce, and invest across national borders.

Today, MNCs wield economic power comparable to, and sometimes exceeding, that of sovereign states.

Their expansion reflects both the opportunities and contradictions embedded within global capitalism.

Understanding Global Capitalism

Global capitalism refers to an economic system characterized by:

  • Free movement of capital across borders;
  • Liberalized trade and investment regimes;
  • Integration of national economies into a global market;
  • Dominance of market-based production and profit maximization.

This system accelerated after World War II and expanded dramatically from the 1980s onward with the rise of neoliberal economic policies, deregulation, privatization, and technological advancement.
