Media personality Boity Thulo might allegedly lose her multi-million-rand home in Gauteng. According to Daily Sun, the rapper and TV star has been dragged to the Johannesburg High Court over an unpaid loan on her Centurion property.
Leemark Financial Services is suing Boity after she allegedly failed to pay the balance of a loan used to buy a R4,2 million house in Centurion, Tshwane. The company has applied for a judgment against her, which could lead to an execution order. This means her home could be attached and auctioned if the debt isn’t settled.
In court papers seen by Daily Sun, Leemark’s Mark Lauth said Boity bought the house on 5 August 2021 after signing an agreement of sale in Roodepoort. The property was officially registered in her name on 30 March 2022.
Lauth claims Boity paid more than R3,7 million towards the purchase price but failed to pay the remaining R491 813. He said, “The defendant paid an amount of R3 708 187,00 in part settlement of the purchase price leaving a balance of R491 813,00 which amount remains unpaid and outstanding.”
He added that his lawyers sent multiple letters to Boity, asking her to settle the balance, but she allegedly ignored all correspondence. “Wherefore the plaintiff prays for judgment against the defendant for payment of the amount of R491 813,00,” the court papers read.
Lauth said Boity must file a notice of intention to defend within 10 days if she wants to dispute the claim. Otherwise, judgment could be granted against her without further notice. He confirmed he instructed his lawyers to apply for a default judgment because Boity has not contacted him to discuss an out-of-court settlement. He also hinted that there are more issues beyond the R4,2 million bond but did not give details.
When contacted for comment, Boity said she was shocked by the legal action. “They want to sell my house. You just ruined my day,” she claimed.
