South African radio host and DJ Lamiez Holworthy has been forced to put her professional commitments on hold after she was recently rushed to hospital and underwent an emergency surgical procedure.

The news has sparked concern among her fans and fellow entertainers, with many taking to social media to send the popular DJ messages of support and wishing her a speedy recovery.

In a statement released by her management, it was confirmed that Lamiez was in hospital and required emergency surgery. While the statement did not reveal the reason for the procedure, her management reassured the public that her condition is not life-threatening.

The statement read, “We would like to inform the fans, clients, event promoters, partners and stakeholders of Lamiez Holworthy that she was rushed to hospital and required an emergency surgical procedure.

We confirm that her condition is not life-threatening.

This will affect remaining events tonight and on the 10th August, we sincerely apologise to event promoters, organisers, clients and partners for any inconvenience caused. Management will contact affected parties and will issue revised dates for bookings once Lamiez has been medically cleared to resume her professional commitments.

We kindly ask for your prayers and that her privacy be respected as she takes the necessary time to recover.

Further updates will be communicated by her management when appropriate.”

The announcement means that several of Lamiez’s upcoming professional commitments will be affected as she takes time to focus on her recovery. Her management has indicated that affected parties will be contacted directly, with revised dates for bookings to be announced once she has been medically cleared to return to work.
