THE FUSE

Minister Willie Aucamp met with commercial and emerging farmers in Douglas in the Northern Cape to discuss urgent challenges affecting agricultural production and farming communities. The engagement gave farmers an opportunity to speak directly with the Minister about conditions affecting their operations and livelihoods. Key concerns included the effects of the El Niño phenomenon, foot and mouth disease and broader pressures facing the agricultural sector. Farmers were able to share their experiences and explain how these challenges affect production on the ground. The meeting highlighted the importance of regular communication between government and farmers as South Africa works to protect agricultural production and food security.
