Paris Saint-Germain secured a dominant 2-0 win over Liverpool in the Uefa Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday, with Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia getting on the scoresheet.

The reigning European champions controlled the game from start to finish, leaving Liverpool to chase the game.

Doue’s deflected shot looped over goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Kvaratskhelia sealed the win with a well-taken finish.

Liverpool’s struggles continued, leaving them with just two wins in their last eight games in all competitions.

The result sets up a tough return leg at Anfield, where PSG will look to secure their place in the last four.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, Barcelona suffered a 2-0 defeat of their own with Atletico Madrid getting the job done at the Camp Nou.

On Tuesday, Luis Diaz and Harry Kane made life difficult for Real Madrid with a 2-1 Bayern Munich win at the Bernabeu, while Arsenal left it late to beat Sporting 1-0 in Lisbon.

The second legs will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
