Today, after a shower, I washed my clothes. I hung everything out to dry jeans, T-shirt, towel, and then… the villain of Indian society, “my bra”.

Within 0.3 seconds, my grandmother appeared like a CCTV camera.

“Arre beta, hang your bra inside Or cover it with a cloth!”

Cover it?

I stood there, confused, like what crime my undergarment had committed? Did it commit tax fraud? Did it scam someone? Did it run away with someone else’s underwear? Why does it need to hide inside?

In our culture, a bra drying outside is equivalent to a national scandal.
Miss World can walk in a bikini on stage but my drying bra on the balcony? Too bold. Too shameless. Too dangerous. Cancel this girl immediately.

So I asked my grandmother, “But why?”

And she replied with that classic line every Indian woman has heard at least 97 times:
“Log kya kahenge?” (“What will people say?”)

Yeah, yeah….. How silly of me.
I forgot that my bra has the power to single-handedly destroy the family reputation built since 1852.
