Reflecting on My Aging Mother’s Move to a Retirement Home

In January, I wrote an article titled “Letting Go of Parents,”1 which tells my story about my attempt to emotionally “let go” of my 93-year-old mother. My grown children have prepared me for letting go through many implicit and overt messages, such as “This is not about you, mum.” The recent experiences with my mother have been different from and similar to those with my grown children. I recognise the see-saw.
