South African singer Donald has warmed hearts across social media after writing a touching letter of appreciation to fellow musician Amanda Black. The singer took to Instagram to publicly express his admiration, gratitude, and long-time support for the award-winning star.

In his emotional post, Donald made it clear that he is not just a colleague in the music industry, but a genuine fan.

“It is with great joy and gratitude that i write this letter to you. I know this might come as a big surprise but I do hope it’s pleasant one and it leaves with a happy and content heart at the end. Firstly I’d like to say Thank you for the music, I for one can officially and publicly declare that 1 am your No.1 fan, I’ve been a fan from the first moment you entered my TV screen on Idols as a contestant many moons ago and to date I remain your biggest supporter.”

Donald praised Amanda Black for the incredible career she has built since her Idols days. He reminded her of her impact and how powerful her voice is in this generation.

“If anyone has never told you, I’m here to tell you you have had an amazing career so far, one that many artists out there can only dream of having, you’re regarded as one of the most powerful voices of our generation and I’m here to remind you that YOU DID THAT girl, and I know there’s so much more for you to do going forward.”

He also shared a special memory from 2016 when he saw her perform live for the first time at the State Theatre while he was mentoring the Idols Top 3 contestants.

“I swear I was in tears that day but I had to play it cool around people because you know a thug can’t be seen crying in public mos lol.”

Donald even revealed that he once wrote a verse for her hit song “AmaZulu” because he hoped to convince her to feature him on a remix.

In a funny twist, he shared that he once sent her a WhatsApp message in 2018 to check up on her, but it was never delivered because she had changed her number.

“I’ve sometimes worried about you from a distance because I feel like some people don’t understand just how lucky we all are to be experiencing you and your talent in real time. I for one am grateful and I just want to say. THANK YOU AMANDA. In this moment I am not your colleague I’m just a guy who loves your music and who respects you as a human being.”

He ended the letter with a hopeful note: “PS: I don’t know why I’ve never asked you to do a song with me, Oh well, who knows what the future hold?… Your No.1 fan.

Donald.”
