Capitec is the single most successful JSE listing of the past 25 years. From 200c at it’s 2002 listing the share is over R4,500 today, a return that has humbled almost every professional fund manager in the country. At the time, it was a small, unloved micro-lender dismissed by the Big Four banks and ignored by most analysts. The signals were there, but almost nobody acted on them.
