The Gap Between Rights and Reality: The Hidden Truth About Human Rights…

In our childhood, we were taught that something called “human rights” is given to every citizen of the country. Is that really true? Does everyone really get them equally?
In theory, yes. These rights are meant for all people, no matter who they are. But in real life, it is not the same for everyone. Power, wealth, awareness, and social standing often decide who can actually enjoy them. People with money and connections get better protection. Others have to fight hard just to be heard. Rights are not automatic privileges. They are ideals that society must actively uphold.
What’s the reason behind it? It’s the way of thinking nowadays. Almost every one of us, without realising it, is marginalising someone, making him or her feel uncomfortable, left out, or less important. A small joke, a rude look, ignoring someone, or supporting unfair rules, these little things add up. Slowly, they build a world where some people feel their rights do not belong to them.
Many people do not even know what their rights are. Others know but do not know how to ask for them. When money and influence matter more than fairness, laws alone cannot help everyone.
The sad part is that when we ignore the rights of others, we hurt ourselves too. We lose a little of our own kindness and fairness.
So what can we do? Start with simple steps. Learn about rights. Listen to people who are treated unfairly. Speak up when you see wrong things, even if it feels difficult. Help those whose voices are not heard.
Because human rights are not just words in a book. They show what kind of people we choose to be. When we protect the rights of everyone, we build a better world, the kind of world we believed in when we were children.
