The importance of play in early childhood development

If there is one thing I wish every parent could feel in their bones, it is this: play is not “just play”. It is not filler time between naps and meals, or something we squeeze in after the “real” learning is done. In the toddler years, play is the real learning. It is how children make sense of the world, build their confidence, and practise the skills they will rely on for the rest of their lives.
