Mother nature disrupts Kaizer Chiefs preparations

Kaizer Chiefs had their preparations for Sunday’s Betway Premiership clash with Siwelele FC interrupted by the weather. Lightning brought a wet training session to an early end.

The session was cut short as a precaution, but there was reportedly no concern around the mood in the Amakhosi camp. The squad remained upbeat as they continued preparations for the weekend assignment.

KAIZER CHIEFS EYE THREE POINTS

Amakhosi return to Betway Premiership action on Sunday. The Glamour Boys are five points off joint log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

The match against Siwelele will take place at Dobsonville Stadium at 17:30.

Despite nature briefly disrupting their preparations, Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping the weather is the only obstacle standing between them and a crucial three points.

As far as team news, Amakhosi have two injuries and three players returning from treatment.

Siwelele have endured a difficult opening to the Betway Premiership campaign. They have collected just two points from four matches to sit 14th under coach Lehlohonolo Seema.

The Bloemfontein outfit are still searching for their first win. They have drawn against TS Galaxy and Chippa United followed by defeats to Milford FC and AmaZulu FC.

With only three goals scored and six conceded, both their attacking output and defensive solidity remain concerns as they prepare to face Kaizer Chiefs in search of a much-needed turnaround.

LAST SEASON’S HEAD TO HEAD

The first league meeting between the sides in October 2025 ended without a winner, with Kaizer Chiefs and Siwelele playing to a goalless draw at FNB Stadium.

Their next encounter produced a very different outcome. On 29 April 2026, Siwelele stunned Kaizer Chiefs with a 2–0 victory at the Free State Stadium, ending the Amakhosi’s impressive unbeaten league run.

Tebogo Potsane struck after just seven minutes before Sphesihle Jeza doubled the advantage in the 26th minute, leaving Kaizer Chiefs unable to recover from the early damage.
